Two climbs, years apart.
In 2017 I climbed Ojos del Salado, one of the highest volcanoes on Earth, and stood on Andean rock with friends, the Uruguayan flag stretched between us, snow and clouds behind.
In 2020 I climbed Kilimanjaro. Karanga Camp at 3,995 m, alpine desert underfoot, then the push toward Stella Point and Uhuru Peak.
Higher up it stopped looking like a postcard. Frost covered our jackets and everything went white. We still made it.
